OFF FIELD CONDUCT & EXPECTATIONS
Once again, we are representing more than just ourselves when we are off the field as well as on. There isn’t a need to list a bunch of rules that pertain to this but I do want to make you aware of a few things.
1. Be careful who you are hanging out with. It doesn’t matter if you are a professional or college athlete. People want to get close to you. If something somebody offers you seems too good to be true then it is. Head the other direction immediately.
2. Be careful where you’re hanging out. The consumption of alcohol is against athletic policy unless you are 21 and off campus. I’m not asking you to not have fun but you should steer clear of any party’s where alcohol is present. Everybody has a cell phone and there are all kinds of people who would love to snap a picture to get you into trouble. Once it does it is out of my hands and goes straight to the A.D.
3. Showing complete respect to your professors and the administration at the University is paramount. We have worked extremely hard to have a good relationship with the faculty. You should always immediately defer to their better judgment of a situation then come talk to the coaching staff if there is an issue.
4. Please don’t think that because you’re an athlete that you get preferential treatment at the University. You are the same as every other student on campus just as your coach’s get treated the same as every faculty member.
The bottom line is that if you really think through a situation you know the right thing to do. Just do it and move on
